I have decided to join bloggers from all over the globe in a writing challenge for the month of October called 31 Days. It takes place every October and, as I’m sure you’ve suspected, it’s a challenge to blog every day of the month!
As I bounced around ideas on what to write about for 31 Days, I decided that I was finally going to address something that has been on my mind to write about for several months now; however, every time I sat down to do it I froze. There was so much in my heart and mind but I couldn’t get it out onto the keyboard.
It’s hard to be vulnerable, especially when it comes to your heart – your pain and imperfections. But one of my core values is authenticity. I believe that living authentically empowers others to do the same and we are the most powerful when we are our true selves.
For a variety of reasons, I have decided it’s time. Time for me to get real about this painfully miraculous time in my life.
For the month of October I’m going to take you through my personal journey over the past year, facing an unplanned pregnancy. More specifically, a crisis pregnancy.
With 51% of pregnancies in the U.S. being “unintended” and about 35% of women who have been pregnant identifying at least one crisis pregnancy, I believe this is a journey worth sharing – for the woman who is feeling afraid, devastated and overwhelmed, for the loved ones who aren’t sure how to help and for the perfect strangers who want to make a difference in the lives of women and their unborn children.
I hope you will take this journey with me.
