4 Things You Find Out When You Become a Mom

This week’s Five Minute Friday prompt is Find. Here I go…

Becoming a mom teaches you a lot of things. Here are some things you find out when you become a mom:

  1. Your body is beautiful and amazing. A lot of women struggle with finding their bodies beautiful, even those we might see as most beautiful. When I got pregnant I suddenly became aware of how awesome my body is. The way our bodies are created to make this little life and nourish it, even after birth, is quite amazing and beautiful.
  2. Binkies are like socks. I am convinced that binkies and that one sock that never made it out of the dryer are in a room together having a good laugh. Seriously, where did all the binkies go?
  3. You will do anything to make your child happy. I will sing, dance, make fart noises, jump up and down, give him 50 baths a day, shove a binky in his mouth (did I just say that?)… I will do anything to make my son happy. And, it’s not to keep him quiet. It’s to keep him happy. I love him more than anything in this world. I never want him to be sad. Ever. I often look at him and think, “I never want you to hurt”. Which leads me to the last thing you find out when you become a mom…
  4. You have more love in you than you thought. I loved a lot of people before I had my son but nothing could have ever prepared me for the love I feel for my son. It is truly an overwhelming love.

These are just a few things I found out after becoming a mom. What did you find?

So true! When I was pregnant with our daughter, I wondered how I was going to love our second child as much as I loved our first. I asked my mother and she said something that I will NEVER forget… “love doesn’t divide, it multiplies”. Of course she was right, and it seems so silly to me now that I could have ever wondered about that. (must have been the hormones) The fifth thing we find when becoming a mom? Your mother was RIGHT!

You are not alone! I know a lot of people that felt the same way when having baby #2. I’ve never given serious thought to having another child but if I did, I’m sure I would wonder how I could have that much love for another child. Another one of God’s mysteries I guess. And YES, that would be a great #5!! Thanks for reading. 🙂

Oh so good and so so true – that third one I remember it well – and the overwhelming love. A great post. Thank you!!

I found there are days you are going to love it and days your are going to hate it (and that’s okay)
I have found that you DO have favorites (and that favorite changes every day) 🙂
