Several months ago I came across this quote, “Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same thing.”
At the time I was in the middle of making a big decision. Deep down I knew what was best or “right” but it was also the thing that would require me to give up a lot. When I read that quote, it resonated with me because I knew it applied to my current circumstance.
Fast forward several months, the decision has been made. I’ve moved on, literally. And the decision is still hard. It’s still right but it’s still hard.
Almost daily, I have to remind myself that I’ve made the right choice. At times I’ve doubted that but the for the most part I know I made the right choice. It’s just hard and I, like many people, don’t like to do hard things.
I like to do easy things.
The thing about “easy” is that it generally doesn’t require sacrifice and sacrifice brings reward.
Choosing the hard thing will build your faith. Choosing the hard thing will produce character. Choosing the hard thing will bring blessings that you otherwise may have missed out on.
Maybe that’s why the hard thing is often the right thing because choosing that path will bring out the best in you and for you.
