Have you ever been faced with a once in a lifetime opportunity?
Well, at least I thought I had until it turned in to a twice in a lifetime opportunity.
My former boss and someone that I consider to have been a great mentor to me once told me, “there’s no such thing as a once in a lifetime opportunity.” I was facing a big decision and I felt like I “had” to take the opportunity.
What my boss/mentor was trying to get me to understand was that timing is key.
Sometimes an opportunity can be “right” at the wrong time.
I have learned now that it is much better to wait for the right thing at the right time than to rush into something out of fear that the opportunity will pass me by.
If something is truly meant to be, it will be.
The next time you are faced with a “once in a lifetime opportunity” realize that it most likely is not and take the pressure off of yourself to do the “right” thing at the wrong time.
